English Championship Podium Places

An update on the medal haul from this Weekends English U23/U20 Championships that incorporated the World Junior Trials at Bedford.

 

Caryl Granville (U20) - 400H - 2nd place. The current WTDA Athlete battled against the elements in the heats and final to improve on her bronze medal from last years competition.

Antonio Cirillo (U20)- 5K Race Walk - 2nd place. Antonio, currently supported by the WTDA, equaled his 2nd place performance from last years U17 English Championships after stepping up into the U20 age group.

Joe Thomas (U23) - 800M - 1st place. Joe, currently named on the WTDA, ranked 6th in the UK rankings, showed a turn of pace to move away from the field to claim 1st place in his first career appearance at the English Championships (outdoor).

Dewi Griffiths (U20) - 5K - 2nd place. Dewi, selected for the World Junior Cross Country Championships earlier this year, lead the field during for the majority of the race only to be pushed into 2nd place on the home straight by Rotherham based Abdirisak Ahmed. At 16, this was Dewi's first career appearance at the English Championships.

Tesni Ward (U20) - JT - 3rd place. Sheffield based Welsh Athlete, Tesni Ward demonstrated consistent throwing in difficult conditions to take 3rd place in the U20 Womens Javelin.

Sally Peake (U23) LJ - 3rd. Sally set two back to back PB's in the long jump to secure third place with a jump of 5.87m.

Ryan Spencer-Jones (U23) - SP. Ryan, coached by Nigel Bevan, set a new PB of 15.45m to take 2nd place in the U23 Mens Shot Put.

 

Bruce Tasker (U23M) 200m- 3rd place. Tasker, currently based at Bath University, battled against the elements and a very tough field to take the bronze medal in 21.67s.

 

Brett Morse (U20) - DT - 1st place. Brett, graduate from the WTDA, continued to show fine form by taking the championship title with 2nd place Noweigen lying 2m behind Brett's 55.30m throw. This further cements Brett's dominance in the U20 age group and eagerly awaits the outcome of the GB World Junior Selection.

 

Ryan Spencer-Jones (U23) - SP- 2nd. Ryan, coached by Nigel Bevan, set a new PB of 15.45m to take the silver medal in the U23 Mens Shot Put.
